Are you wanting to make some changes in the new year? Do you have a word for the year? I feel like many people have moved away from New Year’s resolutions, and have started selecting one word to focus on instead. I love the idea of focusing on one “Word for the Year” because it is simple, and it serves as a launching pad to a new year. Right after Christmas, I set aside a couple hours, grab my favorite matcha latte and my journal to select my Word for the Year. Here are some of my tips and prompts to help you.
1. Evaluate.
What are some words that describe yourself? Your values? What you want to be known for?
2. Clarify and refine.
What are some things you would like to change? Choose 1-4 areas you would like to work on in the new year.
What is your motivation? Think about why you want to work on these areas?
3. Pick your Word of the Year.
This should be a word that sets the tone, motivates, and reminds you of your intentions. Keep in mind, this is for YOU – not anyone else. No perfection involved!
