Have you ever ran late to a baseball game only to realize that you didn’t bring a sports drink or some snacks for your other children? After a few seasons of being a baseball team mom, I’ve compiled a list of my game-changing baseball mom tips to help relieve any anxiety over early morning games, as well as, a list of my essential baseball mom items to have as you head into this baseball season.
TIP #1: Plan Ahead.
Create a list of items you will need/want at the game. Have a wagon prepped with all your game day essentials: foldable chairs, picnic blanket, cooler, umbrella/canopy – and store it in the garage for the season. This is the wagon we have. It’s an extended length collapsable wagon which is long enough to transport a canopy or extra coaches gear etc.
TIP #2: Pack Ahead of Time.
Pack your car the night before with all the items you need for the game. We load up everything that’s in the wagon (my son’s baseball bag, chairs, snacks, sibling backpacks, snack bags, cooler, and the wagon).
NOTE: I keep a first aid kit in my car. If you are a team mom, I recommend refreshing it every season. This is another item you should have in the wagon to ensure you bring it to each game.
TIP #3: Lay out clothes for your player and yourself the night before.
You don’t want any surprises (like missing belt or something needs to be washed etc) and get a good night of sleep.
TIP #4: Prep your drink of choice.
I need a cup of coffee every morning to get me going, so if you’re like me and need caffeine in the morning…here are some suggestions:
- Prep your coffee the night before and have your favorite travel mug washed and ready to use.
- Invest in a Nespresso machine.I absolutely love my Nespresso Vertuo, and I purchase my pods from Target.
- Drive thru coffee. If I’m feeling like Starbucks, I will place a mobile order. I suggest downloading the Starbucks app and placing a mobile order so you aren’t late. Saturday mornings at Starbucks are crowded, ESPECIALLY the drive-thru!
- Purchase and refrigerate your favorite energy drink or cold brew. My husband can’t live without his Monster and I occasionally will drink a La Colombe or Celsius. You can get Monster and Celsius by the case for a pretty good price at Costco.
Tip #5: Bring a pair of slides for your player to wear post game.
Place the slides in the shoe compartment of your player’s baseball bag. This makes it easy for them to quickly get out of their stinky, sweaty socks and cleats after the game 🙂 These are my son’s favorite slides. Place muddy/dirty cleats in a two-gallon slider storage bag. You’ll thank me for this tip! LOL
Dodger Hat / Baseball Fleece / Stanley Cup / Stanley Cup Pouch/ Coffee Mug / Portable Chair / Neutral Cooler/ Crossbody Bag / Sunglasses / Sunscreen
- Dodger Hat & Baseball Fleece are just too cute not to have 🙂 The Dodger Hat I wear all the time for everyday attire.
- Sunglasses. I’ve been wearing this style of Quay sunglasses for probably 7-8 years. I really like that they are inexpensive, yet stylish and durable.
- Sunscreen. I love Supergoop sunscreen. I discovered this Glowscreen a few years ago, and I literally use it everyday. I learned from Susan Yara that daily sunscreen (especially for you face) usage is essential for anti-aging and overall skin protection. My kids really like Play Supergoop.
- Stanley Water Bottle. I have been totally influenced, I absolutely LOVE my Stanley! I drink more water out of a straw, and I like that the bottle fits in my car cup holder (unlike my Hydroflask).
- Stanley Water Bottle Pouch. It seems silly to get excited over this Stanley pouch, but aside from a crossbody – it holds my essentials: water, phone, keys. Its quite roomy and has pockets for other small items.
- Crossbody Bag. As a mom of three children, I love a good crossbody bag as it allows me to be fully hands free, and still have my essentials on me at all times. Besides, who doesn’t love Lululemon? This modern update of the 80’s fanny pack is a total win!
I hope these tips and list of essentials (and some fun items) helps you feel less stressed, and more prepared for all of the baseball games you attend this season!
NOTE: We live in Southern California, so may need to adjust the list according to weather conditions and location of games.
