Hey there, baseball parents! If you’ve ever found yourself herding a bunch of energetic 5-year-olds in the dugout, you know how challenging it can be to keep track of who’s up next at bat. Well, you don’t have to worry anymore! I’ve come up with a simple and colorful solution that has been a game-changer for my little one’s baseball teams. Check out my simple steps below to keep those little leaguers in line with my DIY dugout name tags.
The Dugout Dilemma
As a parent of a baseball player, I quickly realized the chaos that can ensue in the dugout when it comes to organizing the batting order. To ease the confusion, I decided to create personalized name tags for each player that can be easily clipped onto the chain-link fence.
DIY Dugout Name Tags
Here’s a quick rundown of how I made these handy tags:
- Create the customizable baseball name tag in Canva Pro (you can subscribe to my email newsletters and receive a template LINK to customize your own name tags).
- Print on cardstock. I print the customized name tags on white cardstock for durability.
- Laminate for Longevity: To withstand the wear and tear of the baseball season, I laminated each tag. This is the laminating sheets I used.
- After laminating, I cut out the tags again, hole punched the laminated part, and added these carabiner clips with keyring for easy attachment to the fence.
- TIP: Purchase these inexpensive laundry baskets from your local Dollar Tree store to hold water bottles, and baseball helmets during the game. I label the baskets with each player’s name and they last long enough for the season.
