I grew up having eczema, however, I didn’t know I had eczema until I was a late teen. After frequent flare ups, I went to the dermatologist, who shared with me how to reduce them by identifying potential allergens in my diet, and reduce exposure to toxic chemicals.
Fast forward to today…A friend told me to give Thieves Laundry Detergent a try and after the first week of no inflammation, I was sold! It truly is my go-to laundry soap. Most detergents (even the Clear +Free ones) irritate my skin. And unfortunately, one of my children inherited my eczema as well. I read labels and try my best to be mindful about what we put in our body and on our skin (especially skincare products and soaps/detergents). I have never had any inflammation with Thieves laundry detergent, which is why I love it so much. And it’s a bonus that you can customize with essential oils, and it SMELLS so fresh and clean!
Thieves Laundry Detergent DIY Recipe
You will need:
32 oz Glass Dispenser
Measuring Cup
Ingredients:
- 10.5oz of concentrated Thieves Laundry Detergent
- 3 capfuls of Thieves Cleaner
- 15 drops of Lemon Essential Oil
- 15 drops of Purification Essential Oil
- Distilled Water
Directions:
Mark 10.5 ounces with a sharpie market on the outside of your glass dispenser. Fill the jar with Thieves laundry detergent. Add Thieves cleaner and essential oils. Lastly, fill the remainder of the jar with distilled water. Gently share to mix.
Other Tips to Reduce Eczema Triggers:
- I always do an extra RINSE cycle to get any extra soap out of my clothes
- I use Baking Soda to “brighten” laundry (nothing with fragrances or synthetic chemicals)
- Avoid Fabric Softners and Dryer Sheets. Instead, I also use distilled white vinegar as a fabric softener (place in Fabric softener dispenser of your laundry machine) and 3-6 wool dryer balls in the dryer as a fabric softener and to reduce static.
- I use cleaning gloves when I clean my home (like the bathroom or sinks etc).
